Workshop: Securing Access to School for Counter-recruitment

Sáb, 09/14/2013 - 9:42pm by nnomyadmin

Workshop: Securing Access to School for Counter-recruitment

This workshop will look at methods for securing access to high schools for the purpose of providing a balance to military recruiters and ensuring that information on alternatives is accessible to students. It will focus on overcoming challenges that community groups and non?student activists face when trying reach out to students through the school system, on planning that will optimize the chances for success, and on alternative approaches when equal access is not possible, including developing effective working relationships with students and student groups. We'll cover legal principles and methods for using them to leverage access. The focus will be on what has worked, based on actual organizing experiences, with some strategizing around specific questions raised by participants.

Presenters: Rick Jahnkow, Nancy Cruz, Susan Van Haitsma

What Every Young Woman Should Know About the Military

What Every Young Woman Should Know About the Military

A Brochure for Young Women Thinking About Joining the Military | 2022

"When I joined, I knew that women in the military faced an uphill battle, but I didn't fully understand how serious the issues were and how reluctant leadership is to doing anything about it.

The truth is that there's a culture of harassment and assault that is incredibly harmful to all troops, but especially to gender minorities."
